Participants will gain insight into current legislation, institutional processes, and interprofessional roles involved in MAiD, while strengthening their ability to support patients and families with professionalism, clarity, and compassion.

  • Where and how MAiD eligibility assessments occur
  • What MAiD looks like in practice
  • The role of Respiratory Therapists in MAiD
  • The MAiD process, including preparation and administration

This webinar is suited for Respiratory Therapists seeking to better understand their responsibilities, boundaries, and available supports related to MAiD, as well as those looking to build confidence when caring for patients exploring end-of-life options.

Presenter:

Dr. Konia Trouton is a family physician and co-founder and Past President of the Canadian Association of MAiD Assessors and Providers (CAMAP). She is a Clinical Professor at the University of British Columbia and a Clinical Lecturer at the University of Toronto. A long-time advocate for patient choice, Dr. Trouton has been a national leader in MAiD practice, education, and research since 2016 and helped develop the Canadian MAiD Curriculum.
