Webinar Description:

This webinar will examine the current youth nicotine vaping crisis using national epidemiological data to provide Respiratory Therapists (RTs) with a clear understanding of trends, risk factors, and patterns of use among youth. Participants will explore the impact of nicotine vaping on respiratory health and consider how nicotine dependence intersects with anxiety, depression, stress, and other psychosocial challenges frequently encountered in respiratory practice.

The session will conclude with evidence-informed recommendations equipping participants with strategies to screen for vaping, provide brief interventions, and support youth and families through appropriate referrals.

This webinar is approved for 1 CSRT CPD credit.

Bio: Dr. Tea Rosic is a Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist at the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario where she is also the Medical Lead of the Substance Use and Concurrent Disorders Services. She is an Assistant Professor in the Departments of Psychiatry and School of Epidemiology and Public Health at the University of Ottawa and a Scientist at the CHEO Research Institute where she conducts research focused on adolescent substance use and concurrent disorders.
