Friday, September 19th at 12pm EST time (Virtual)

Webinar Description:

End-of-life care, including communications with the family and withdrawal of respiratory support are entry-to-practice skills.  The majority of Respiratory Therapists surveyed feel that they are not sufficiently prepared for discussions at EOL with the family nor their role in withdrawal of respiratory support.

In this webinar, we will look at the literature on the psychological impact for Respiratory Therapists in EOL care.  We will also discuss our pilot simulation project at BC Children’s and Women’s  Hospital for the interprofessional team to practice these skills in a psychologically safe environment. Online learning modules followed by simulation scenarios designed with best simulation practices provide an opportunity to try out communication and learn from each other guided by trained facilitators.
