Respiratory Therapist Educator - NICU, BC Women's Hospital

 

Are you a Respiratory Therapist with Neonatal and leadership experience? We have an exciting opportunity for Educator roles at BC Women’s Hospital in beautiful Vancouver, BC.

The Respiratory Therapist Educator, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), is a knowledge translator and change agent who supports and participates in direct patient care as appropriate. You will act as a clinical resource for respiratory therapists and the interdisciplinary team and you will help us achieve excellence in clinical practice and quality patient care by:

  • Working in collaboration with the Professional Practice Leader & Professional Practice Coordinator plans, implements and evaluates educational and clinical programs to meet the learning needs of respiratory therapy staff including orientation, clinical teaching, inservices and developing instructional materials.
  • Participating in the performance and skill assessment of staff from an education perspective and certifying staff in specialized skills.
  • Acting as a clinical role model and resource for staff and participating in educational and clinical audits as well as quality improvement projects.
  • Providing education to learners, respiratory therapists, medical staff, nursing and other health professionals on respiratory therapy related clinical practice, equipment, policies and procedures.
  • Participating in the development, communication and evaluation of standards, procedures and protocols and facilitates change in respiratory practice.

You have:

  • Graduated from an approved school of Respiratory Therapy.
  • Education, training and experience in a Neonatal tertiary care facility including leadership activities or an equivalent combination of three (3) years’ recent related experience.
  • Successful completion of the Canadian Board of Respiratory Care Examinations.
  • Eligibility for registration (RRT) with the British Columbia Society of Respiratory Therapists (BCSRT).
  • Eligibility for registration with the Canadian Society of Respiratory Therapists (CSRT)
  • Certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation for patient population.
