Call for Abstracts CSRT 2025 Annual Conference

Thank you for your interest in speaking at the CSRT 2025 Annual Conference (May 8-10, 2025 at the Westin Ottawa). Please read these instructions carefully as some fields have changed this year.

You may submit multiple proposals for this Call. All questions with an asterisk require a response.

We are pleased to provide a new resource to support potential speakers in developing their proposal(s). We encourage you to review the following document as it outlines the standards for this Call.

Scientific-Conference-Abstract-Submission-Guide_FINAL.pdf

Upon submitting, CSRT members will receive an automated e-mail to the address in their member profile within a few minutes. All submissions (i.e., those from members and non-members) will be automatically confirmed with a submission screen and will be confirmed by CSRT staff within 1-2 business days. Submissions lacking sufficient detail will be returned.

The deadline for all submissions is Monday September 23rd, 2024.

The Scientific Program Committee will review all abstracts once the submission period has closed. You will be informed of the outcome of your submission by November 8, 2024.

The individual who submits a conference proposal is considered the primary speaker for that session and will receive speaker support from the CSRT (2 nights accommodation [traditional room] at the conference hotel and full conference registration). Additional speakers may be permitted, however they will not receive speaker support from the CSRT.

The following session set-up is standard for each session:

  • theatre-style seating arrangement (i.e., audience seating arranged in rows)
  • a podium with a mic (if a mic is required for a larger room)
  • conference laptop, LCD projector, screen
  • Internet access in the presentation room
  • remote to advance slide and laser pointer

REQUIRED

If your preferred session format is a 90-minute workshop, please indicate the maximum number of participants (if applicable) and outline any resources you would require in addition to the standard resources described at the beginning of the Call. (Note: If your proposal is selected, we cannot guarantee that we can provide your desired resources, but will do our best to do so.)

Please describe your target audience (e.g., patient educators, neonatal RTs, anesthesia assistants, general RT community, leaders, etc.) and the signficance of your proposed session to this audience.*

The CSRT values and requires transparency in the sessions at its conferences. Presenters must declare if they will be promoting any equipment, device, medication, or other items in their presentations. Will your presentation promote any of the above?*

REQUIRED

If your presentation will promote a product, which one(s)?

Learning Objectives: Provide two or three learning objectives for your proposed session. This will help the Scientific Program Committee better understand your proposed session, and may be considered for publication (see next question). Abstracts should be 250-500 words in length, and must be organized by headings (Background/Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion, Conclusion). All authors' names must be included in the abstract for studies involving authors other than the presenter. Do not include references. In the rare occurrence that a proposed session cannot be described with an abstract (e.g., sharing a personal journey), provide a detailed description of your proposed session.*

I understand this submission may be considered for inclusion in the CSRT 2024 Annual Conference Proceedings. *

REQUIRED

Provide up to 3 key references for your proposed presentation. At a minimum, include the author(s), year and source. *

REQUIRED

Speaker biography (Must be written in third person and should tell the audience what they should know about you as a speaker. Your bio should not be a summary of your CV but should briefly inform the audience of your background relevant to the topic.)*

REQUIRED

Do you plan to include any additional presenters for this session? (If so, the next question is required. Additional presenters not included on this form will not be included in descriptions of this session [e.g., in conference program, on delegate badge]).*

Note: The CSRT will follow up with you to understand the rationale for additional speakers and to confirm that this request can be accommodated.

REQUIRED

If you plan to include one or more additional speakers, please provide the name, credentials and biography for each individual.

REQUIRED

Have you given or been invited/selected to give this presentation elsewhere?*

REQUIRED

If you have given this presentation or been invited/accepted to present it somewhere else, where did you present it?

REQUIRED

Prospective conference presenters often have a strong interest in supporting evidence informed practice. Therefore, we are inviting volunteers to participate in the work of the Canadian Journal of Respiratory Therapy (CJRT) through becoming a peer reviewer. If you have not already communicated with the CJRT about being a peer reviewer, would you be open to receiving information on this opportunity?
