Webinar Date: Thursday, June 19, 2025 at 12pm EST Time

Join us for an engaging webinar exploring the role of respiratory therapists in neonatal lung ultrasound. Shere Gigolyk, RRT, will guide participants through the fundamentals of lung ultrasound in neonatal care, including identifying lung zones, recognizing artifact patterns, and applying scoring methods for common neonatal conditions such as TTN, RDS, BPD/CLD, pneumothorax, and pneumonia. Additionally, attendees will learn how to document findings effectively while maintaining their professional scope of practice.

Learning Objectives:

  • Identify the six zones of the neonatal lungs
  • Recognize four artifact patterns linked to specific scoring
  • Understand ultrasound scoring for common neonatal morbidities
  • Write a progress note incorporating lung ultrasound findings

This webinar is ideal for respiratory therapists looking to expand their knowledge and clinical application of neonatal lung ultrasound. Don’t miss this opportunity to enhance your expertise in neonatal respiratory care!

Shere’s background in respiratory therapy spans over three decades, she has been a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) in Manitoba since 1990. She began her career at St. Boniface Hospital, working across various critical care areas. In 2003, she joined the Neonatal/Pediatric Life Flight team, and in 2010, took a locum role with the Northern Regional Health Authority, providing coverage in three hospitals.

In 2016, she became the Clinical Specialist Lead in the NICU at St. Boniface, mentoring new RRTs. She has contributed to research on neonatal care, lectured internationally, and played a key role in integrating neonatal lung ultrasound in the NICU.
